Pwd on the Wall 2

My last post, Password, Password on the Wall, triggered a memory of another password issue I stumbled upon some time ago.

I had flown across the country to help a fellow system administrator upgrade some of his applications. At one point, we left the data center and ventured out to the factory floor to fix a botched client software installation.

As we reloaded the software, I struck up a conversation with the on-duty manager. We talked about computer problems and how all the new IT and security policies were giving him heartburn.

At that point, I noticed a huge dry erase board hanging about three feet above his PC with one phrase written on it in 16-inch letters.

When asked what the word was, the manager replied, “That’s the password to the inventory system. No one ever forgets it anymore.”
