Free ACL Benford’s Law Training (Online)

I found a website where a group from the Business School of the University of Colorado Denver is offering free online training for ACL running Benford’s Law analysis on data.

This training was offerred for a limited time and has been discontinued. Free training does still exist (but not on Benford), so see my posts regarding  Free ACL Bootcamp Training and ACL Tutorials on YouTube. Also check out the most popular post on this blog, Teach Yourself ACL.

You have to have a copy of ACL (for more info, see Teach Yourself ACL), but otherwise it’s free. The group is doing a study (learning techniques?) and are offering the training for a limited time (at least until the end of February 2010).

It takes about 2 hours and includes a video lecture, self-tutorial, test, and a survey.

Check it out at http://ouray.cudenver.edu/~h1kim/BenfordsLaw/Benford.htm.

  2. John,
If you have a licensed copy of ACL and a support agreement, you can get free training at ACL.com (see the Teach Yourself ACL post link above). Otherwise, you can Google the internet and find many Powerpoint presentations and even youtube videos on using ACL.

    • Karen,
Sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier, as I’ve been out. I bought 3 licenses plus premium support about 4 years ago and I think it cost $8K. I’m guessing an single license costs about $1500-$2000.

I think the best way to learn it is to follow the advice above. I doubt you can learn it quickly. It takes time. Sure, you can learn a few things quickly, but to do a good job of analyzing the data takes time.
