Some people do not understand that both diamonds and the Internet are forever. I found this statement in a discussion on LinkedIn:
I am excited about 2 interviews next week even though I’m not fully qualified for either one.
Ironically, this appeared as an answer to a question about mistakes people make in their job search. Some people still don’t understand that:
- Employers and others may not read your comments the same as you meant it. With so many applicants, employers are looking for ways to eliminate applicants. Don’t give them any ammunition.
- Many sites save all content forever (e.g., Facebook* and Google), so that’s why you MUST read the terms of service and privacy policy before you install software or use a service or website).
- Public information is public. To access this person’s LinkedIn answer, all you need is a LinkedIn account; you don’t need to be linked to this person.
- Private information is sometimes made public (see Weird AT&T Glitch regarding Facebook).
